I have this on DVD and decided to watch it tonight. Although I've seen it a million times it never fails to make me laugh. If you like this movie, what's your favorite part or quote? I love the part where Clark goes down the hill on the saucer that he greased with the special stuff his company developed.

Ellen: Clark, I think it would be best if everyone went home, before things get worse.
Clark: WORSE? How could things get any worse? Take a look around here, Ellen. We're at the threshold of hell!

This is a family favorite! We usually watch it Thanksgiving evening after decorating the Christmas tree....

I live the squirrel scene. However, my favorite is Cousin Eddie's outfit--the white sweater and black dickie. And the conversatiOn is great.

Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

Eddie: Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark.

Oh, and the "bend over and I'll show you" line about where to put the big tree is good.

We always comment on "nipply" weather, too.

I don't laugh out loud much watching movies. That one is an exception. Love it!

One of my favorite scenes (and it's sooo hard to pick just one) is when they are eating dinner and Clark tells the kids he just heard on the radio that they spotted Santa's sleigh, and Eddie says with a straight face, "You serious, Clark?" The look on Clark's face is priceless!!

DH and I are always saying to each other, "You serious, Clark?" It's an on-going, year-round joke in our house!!

Mine is: Look around you Ellen, we're standing on the threshold of hell.

Ds's is: #####ter's full

The Boy's is: Later Dudes (which is our year round "good bye")

Oh, and my dad is obsessed with outdoor lighting. Year Round. He'll spend time out there repositioning the lights and will make whomever is there stand out there and help direct his artistic lighting. When he goes around checking the lights we call him Clark W Griswold.

Love this movie as well! We actually have it in our DVD player in the bedroom .

I love Clark's rant:

Clark: "Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny ******** Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white a** down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of a******* this side of the nuthouse

Love Aunt Bethany and Uncle Lewis, too!

Aunt Bethany:What's that sound? You hear it? It's a funny squeaky sound.
Uncle Lewis: You couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant.

I love the part where they go sledding and Cousin Eddie is telling why he can't go.

Eddie: Well, they replaced it with a plastic one 'cause everytime Katherine revved up the microwave, I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for a half-hour or so. And it ain't real sturdy so... I don't know if I oughta go sailin' down no hill with nothin' between the ground and my brains but a piece of government plastic.Clark: Do you really think it matters, Eddie?Eddie: [gesturing over the left side of his head] Well, you see, the plate runs underneath my part here, and the other side... [bangs his right side] Nothing. But here, if this gets dented, then my hair just ain't gonna look right.Clark: Yeah, I know the feeling.

Love this movie! There are so many great parts that my family quotes regularly. One of my favorites:
EDDIE: You surprised to see us Clark?

CLARK: If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet I couldn't be any more surprised than I am right now.

Clark's rant is my father. He would always overdo things and then go on a tirade when it didn't work out. I love, love, love that scene. So many family memories

This is a really funny movie with so many great lines/scenes. But my favorite is when Clark gets locked in the attic and everyone leaves the house. I love that he gets so nostalgic watching the family movies...so sweet...of course his outfit completes the humorous part of the scene.

Oh man, that is a fabulous movie!! My family and I also watch it over Thanksgiving weekend to officially kick off the holidays. My favorite part is Clark's rant about having the hap-hap-happiest Christmas so on and so forth. Cousin Eddie's "Sh*tter's full" is heard from my family year round.

This is my family's favorite movie. It is quoted many times throughout the year. It never fails, when my family sits down to dinner to say grace, we hear "Who wants to say grace? Grace died thirty years ago. The blessing!"

Last year I gave my daughter and DIL a tee shirt of the station wagon with huge tree on top from the movie. They wore it each time they viewed the movie. This year I bought the Hallmark ornament of the station wagon that plays the theme song that opens the movie.

Margo: And why is the carpet all wet, *Todd*?
Todd: I don't *know*, Margo!
