I was robbed!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My wedding band, a diamond heart necklace, and my grandmother's wedding rings were stolen from my home. I am heartbroken. These items can never be replaced.

The diamond heart necklace was given to me by my husband our first Christmas. We were young and poor. My husband worked over-time to surprise me on Christmas morning with that necklace.
My wedding band-28 years old. I took it off because I was doing a lot of gardening/cleaning and did not want it to get damaged. It had small diamonds throughout the band.
Two years ago, my mother gave me my grandmother's wedding set-her engagement ring and wedding band. I did not want to accept it, but my mother said she wanted me to have it while she was still alive. I have been unable to tell my mother. I am so sad, and I think in shock somewhat.

We live in a rural area and have 3 big dogs. The police (had to wait 2 days for police to wait until the officer was on his shift--yes, that rural) said it had to be someone we knew because of how it was done & the dogs. I have been physically sick to my stomach.

And since we did not have a writers' something or other on our insurance for my jewelry, we will only get $500. from insurance, which honestly, I could care less about because nothing can replace what those things meant to me.

That is heartbreaking! I am so sorry. You are right...no amount of money could replace the importance of these items.

I hope that they turn up and they catch whoever did this.

you are in a daze. These were treasures that belonged to you and a person/ persons invaded your personal space and took away your memories. Give your hurt to God. He already knows and feels your pain. He is your comforter. Try to find peace and joy in what you do have your family, and your safety. So sorry this happened to you.

I can't imagine how you must feel right now. If I were you, I would start checking pawn shops in the area to see if someone might have pawned the jewelry. Being a rural area, that's probably what the thief would have done if they wanted it for money. It's so sad to think that it might be someone you knew.
I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Again, I'm just so, so very sorry!

That 's terrible - especially to think that it was someone you know. Do the police think they might be able to catch the person who did it? I would check with any pawn shops in the area, and have them let you know if any of those items come in; you might be able to recover them.

I am sorry this happened to you.

How awful- I will pray that they find the crooks and you get your belongings back. How terrible that it might be someone you know- I would keep following up with the police, and the idea of checking local pawn shops is a good one.

That's terrible - what an awful feeling. I definitely agree with one of the previous posters about checking any pawn shops that are somewhat nearby. Not sure how many there'd be since you live in such a rural area, but my parents had jewelry stolen once and were able to recover some of it at a pawn shop.

I am so sorry. You must feel so violated. Don't give up hope in possibly finding your items. Check craigslist for postings as well as calling around to local and (farther) pawn shops. The thief(s) will want to sell your things most likely, so be on the look out.

Good luck, I hope they catch the person(s).

Praying that the thief is found. This same thing happened to a good friend of mine. She was able to figure out that it was a very good friend's son that took her things. She contacted the mother and was able to get her things back! Praying that you will get your belongings back.

Also praying that the thief is caught. I would take some time and go to every pawn shop and gold buyers shop within an hour radius from you. I pray with all my heart and soul that you are able to get your things back.

Goodness! We don't usually expect these things to happen in rural areas but they do. Do you have any immediate neighbors or someone who lives down the road that you live on that may have seen a car around the area that day?

I'm hoping that they get your things back. Things like this do not have monetary value only sentimental. I'd go to the nearest pawn shop/s to let them know and to see if your jewelry is there. Also, if you have Ebay, check it! They may try to sell them that way as well.

So sorry.

so sorry ((bettyspeller.)) try to be rational right now and make a list of who has been around in the past few months and would know what jewelry you had.Memory fades so work on that list soon. No matter who it is, press charges. This person must be caught and have consequences.

Fingerprints? I agree that you might put the word out to everyone you know and tell them to spread the word. Maybe offer that $500 as a reward on a poster in the post office, general store or wherever people will see it. Do your police have any kind of anonymous tip line--guessing not, but maybe say 'anonymous tips to the __ Police Department' welcome or appreciated. People talk and it spreads.

(((Big Hugs))) I feel so horrible for you! I have a couple of colleagues who also had precious jewelry stolen and it just makes me heartsick to hear of these things. One friend said they found jewelry hidden in drawers--she said they use a metal detector. Praying your treasures will come back to you.

I would be driving regularly to the nearest pawn shops with descriptions of the jewellery. Thieves don't take those things to wear themselves. They will be sold or traded. Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for the loss of your momentos and personal belongings. That is so heartbreaking.

However, have you considered looking to see if your stolen property has been put on craig's list? I know in the newspaper a lot of thieves have been busted when posting stolen property only to find a buyer with the police at their door Just a thought! We just got something stolen and plan on watching craigslist very closely as well!

Thank you so much for all your kind words and advice. The policeman actually told us to go to pawn shops and jewelers that sell estate jewelry. I checked Craigslist based on all of your advice and will continue checking.

I know that I have to consider how lucky we are. No one was hurt and we are healthy and in the end that is what counts. I still have not been able to tell my mom about my grandmother's rings. I know I will have to.

Thank you, again, for all your kind words, advice, and prayers.
