Happy Canada Day everyone!

In honour of Canada Day, what do you love about Canada? (whether you live here or have visited)

I'll start the list:
free and equal health care for all
multiculturalism
beautiful natural environment. I've flown over much of the country in small (low) planes and I can tell you it is breathtaking.
bilingualism
poutine!

I'm not Canadian, nor have I ever been to Canada, but I do appreciate having a peaceful neighbor to the north. That is no small thing!!

Happy Canada Day!

(ETA - did you see Bing's homepage today?)

Why Thank You .

I love being a Canadian who lives just on the border...gives me the best of both worlds. I'm acually a duel citizen so that's even better .

I love that as of now anyway, teachers are treated relatively well.

And everything Smokey said!

How cool is this picture?

I've traveled from one side of Canada to the other and love the landscape, prairies, mountains and all in between.
I live in an area of lakes and boating where summers rule. Sometimes I get small town fever but the city is close by and it's a different world with many cultures and millions of people.
I love the freedoms that we have and thank those who fought to allow us this life.
I do say "eh" way too often and yes...nothing taste better than an order of poutine in Montreal or maybe a beaver tail after a long skate on the canal in Ottawa.
Happy Canada Day

I love that I will be visiting Newfoundland next week. They are having a high of 68 degrees right now. I love that since I live in Texas where we are having a high in the 100s.

Things I will see in Newfoundland that I don't see in Texas:

The Atlantic Ocean, icebergs (if it is still cold enough), whales, lighthouses and puffins!

My first solo trip was to Canada on a group hiking/biking trip. I put off getting my masters to go there and it was completely worth it!

Banff and Lake Louise are beautiful.

When I was a teenager we took a trip to Prince Edward Island. PEI was my great-grandparents first home after immigrating from Ireland.

I'm looking forward to going back to Canada soon!

When you order french fries at a Canadian McDonalds, you get a packet of malt vinegar. Yum!

My first trip to Canada was for the World Expo in 1986 (was it 86?). I was in high school and the band went up there. It was loads of fun!!

I was then able to visit Alberta in 1989. Beautiful!

I haven't been there since, but my DH and I really want to get to Victoria. Hmmm, maybe that's a goal for next summer.

And, I agree, a peaceful neighbor to the North is awesome!!

Happy Canada Day!!!

All of the above! And the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. We are blessed!

And yes, it was Expo '86.

Happy Canada Day to all Canadian PTers!
We just returned from a two day stay in Winnepeg and Brandon. Love Tim Hortons and Timbits. Tried poutine for the first time. We have visited the Vancouver area many times and love it there.

I became Canadian (legally) at 21 but grew up here (east coast).
Since I live overseas and only come home in the summer to visit family, I have a real deep appreciation of Canada and what a wonderful country it is!

I see a lot of people and landscapes all over the world in my travels, and I have seen some truly amazing things and met some unique and talented people in my overseas lifestyle. However, there is absolutely nothing like the feeling I get when the plane touches down on "home" soil and I get to spend the summer in this great country. I look forward to many more years abroad working internationally, but I will also be very happy to return home upon retirement!

Happy Canada Day!
