Need a new vacuum cleaner!

Our vacuum cleaner is old...about 20 years old. We need a new one, but with so many vacuums on the market I'll have to do some research.

We need a powerful vacuum that can suck up cat/dog hair AND work on vinyl, wood, and carpet.

Do you have a vacuum cleaner you love? Please share!

Thanks!

love my dyson dc 41 animal complete. Always amazed by the amount of dirt it sucks up! I have a cat, two small kids and a husband that works on a farm. I vacuum everyday.

situation a few months ago and bought the Shark Navigator Professional Lift-Away. DH and I both love it!

This vacuum cleaner is AMAZING. The suction is incredible and it is extremely easy to use. It also cost less than $200 so that was a plus.

ETA: This vacuum cleaner is also great with animal hair. It has a special attachment for removing hair from furniture as well.

I bought the same sweeper and I love it because it is also much lighter than my Thermax. I can carry it up and down my staircase without breaking my back! It has great suction, and it is easy to clean the canister when I am finished sweeping.

I have a Dyson Animal DC25. I loved it from day one! A bit more expensive than what I wanted to pay, but I am so glad I made the investment.

We just got a Dyson a few weeks ago and we love it. It picks up sooo much and is very easy to move around.

I love my Hoover Windtunnel Air. I saw it one late night in the summer when I couldn't sleep (you know, when only infomercials are on). They convinced me and I found it at Target for ~$150. This thing is awesome!

Thanks all of the suggestions.

We'll definitely take a look at the Dyson Animal and the other suggestions for comparison!

Your suggestions gave me a great starting point!

Love, love, love my Dyson Animal. It is expensive but worth every penny. My sister and mom have one too (after I talked them into it) and they both love the sweeper too.
