I am looking for some examples of evaluations out there where elementary teachers received distinguished. I am getting proficient at this time, but I want to move up a notch. I would love some input from some highly proficient teachers out there. Thank you!!!

I look at the rubric and try to pinpoint what I need to work on to become highly effective. It is trickier in lower el I think.

Look at the rubric at Proficient, and then look at Distinguished and underline the parts of the statement that are not in Proficient. That is your goal. I think if your evaluator mentioned specific areas you could start on those, otherwise what I'm doing is just taking a little bit each month to implement.

Please remember we don't "live" in one of the domains all the time. We are human and some days are better than others.
With that said, when you write your summation in any of the areas make sure to look at the rubric and use the language from the area goal you are striving. In my county they changes the headers so our top is Highly Proficient.

This is new to me.We don't have categories like this, but I would love to see what the rubric looks like. Is it possible for you to post it?

Google - Danielson framework
This search will supply more than you probably ever wanted to know. You should see the link for the official site but also how different counties and states use the framework.

Miller is correct - the shift is where the kids are taking responsibility for their own learning.

It's all about teaching the kids pony tricks. What specific 'look for' do you need to hit? I can give you a 'pony trick' to teach your kids that will hit it. Trick is making sure assessor sees it. I direct my evaluator to places during my observation. I have nailed a perfect score on this thing ever time for the past three years. And it's not because I am some super teacher. It's all in student training, and I teach kindergarten...

give me a specific 'highly effective' look for, and I will tell you what I 'train' my kids to do that hits it. ... that is the easiest way to give ideas. Otherwise, I have to type too much.... lazy girl tablet typing with one finger
