Hospital

Well I finally have a somewhat update- it looks like I will be going into the hospital for my LOOOOONG 26 day stay around 11/3; then I would get all the "pre" stuff I need for the Stem-Cell transplant and all that good stuff for the next 12 days, and the transplant will take place around 11/15. We're hoping all this happens on this schedule; it depends on the donor and other things that I am not aware of...

Fingers crossed since I have been waiting for a long time, and I pray that this transplant will work really well, and I won't have any problems and that my body will accept the donor's stem-cells without any issues!

I am not looking forward to 26 days in the hospital, being bored out of my mind, I have some books, word searches and am hoping to bring my computer and lots of chargers for my phone/ipad...

I'll update you all before I go in again but I wanted to let you know what was happening so far!

Sounding positive!! Add PT to your list of things to keep you occupied. Do you do any kind of needlework? That can pass a lot of time. Embroidery is super easy. Thanks for update.

went through the stem cell thing a year ago right about now. She is doing very, very well - healthy, strong. She says she's not the Energizer Bunny she was, but is very happy and feeling great.
Here's to you and your future!

I’m glad this is planned. I had a friend go through this many years ago and continues to be doing well. So I have high hopes for you, too!

Sending good thoughts for your procedures and stay. Do you journal or color? A couple more ideas to break up the day. And lots of tv and PT too!

That is a long time to be hospitalized but before you know it, that will be in the past. I wish you the best outcomes.

I appreciate all the prayers/well wishes, they mean more to me than you can ever imagine!

I will be checking pro-teacher often, but it's hard because I MISS teaching so much. I've been off since Feb., and it's been super hard for me to be honest.

I just found out yesterday that my "long-term sub" who in reality is a teacher (she took over for me last year and I had a feeling she would teach for me this year, why not? She taught 4th for years before becoming our PE teacher...) packed up my entire classroom. She had that right, but I asked the principal if I should come in with friends and do that (that way it would be the way *I* wanted it...) and she said she didn't need me to do anything I don't know if she figured technically I wasn't allowed on campus (but I could have received special permission from the Assoc. Super. like I did a few years ago) or if she didn't want me to have to deal with it, either way now I will have a hard time when I unpack next summer. Luckily, I live around the corner...

ANYWAY, so yes, I have a long hospital stay and I will try hard not to think of school too much but it'll be hard, especially with that bombshell dropped on me...I thought I was going in mid-Oct., so I started packing, I have about 4 books so far, some word search books and a sudoku book so far. Then stationary, hopefully they have a way that I can send and receive mail. I asked but haven't received an answer yet.

If anyone wants to KIT via email though in my next post I will send my email, because that I know I will be able to check because I will bring my phone and iPad for sure.

Thank you again, it really is appreciated- the more the prayers the better I figure!

I am praying that the prep, transplant and recovery all go off without a hitch and that time flies for you! Do you ever use adult coloring books? That is a very relaxing thing to do to help pass the time, if you enjoy it.

(((HUGS)))
