So I'm not a mom, but when I left my stocking to my husband, he tried to put a cheese board in it. I buy little things for it myself and then I put it in my stocking! My sister gave me this great idea. It's stuff I know he'd never even know existed in fun Target aisles, like 2 chap sticks in a little ornament.

I complained that my stocking has been flat for weeks. DH finally went out to shop one day. He hates to shop. I now see a box of nature bars sticking out of the top of it! I have filled the other 5 stockings completely with money and gadgets. Now that I have DILs my gifts have improved.

Yup, the stocking looks like mine! My Dh buys me lots of thoughtful presents but he always forgets about the stocking

I can relate. My DH tries but gift giving is not one of the qualities I love about him. My 3 DSs are not much better, but I can't blame them based on their role model. I have started buying my own gifts. I don't wrap them but I do shop for and treat myself during the holidays.

That video cracked me up. That used to be my Christmas every year. Now the Amazon wish list is my best friend!

The best (worst) year was the Harry Potter Christmas. DH and the kids (3 boys) knew I liked the books, so I got HP earrings (yes, multiple), a Ravenclaw t-shirt, a Gryffindor scarf, a Hogwarts coffee mug, a snitch necklace, and a time-turner necklace. With every present I opened that Christmas, I kept expecting "the real" present, but no, more Harry Potter. I couldn't even act mad or disappointed either, because I still remember the looks on their eager little faces, like "Do you like it Mom? Didn't we do good?"

Sure boys, if I were an eleven year old girl, this would be the best Christmas ever.
