Labeling/categorizing books

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have bins and everything to label/categorize my books. Since I am teaching first grade, is it wrong to put books A-C together in one bin and then books D-F together? Is that too much blending among levels, would it be better as just A-B? I'm only asking because I know the levels are similar, but also because I don't have a ton of books at each of those levels. I am just trying to figure how labeling/categorizing would be easiest for me, also I am planning on leveling them until M and then doing theme from there. I know it's whatever works best for me, but I also want something useful for my students and wondering what others have tried. I should also mention that my school has a leveled book room that myself and other grade level teachers will take their students to get books, my books in the room are more or less so they can change if it isn't time to go down to the leveled room and for other options! Thanks again for the help!

I put levels a and b together because I have fewer of those too and the students aren't in these bins very long anyway usually. I then separate all the other letters into their own bins until about m or so. Then I combine again since not many ever get this far anyway. Hope this helps.
