Istation & ar

Clip to ScrapBook #1

So our district is using ISTATION this year. It is new to me, and the thousands of teachers I work with, and I don't know much about it. The kids test monthly unless they are "programmed" to test at a more frequent rate. As a whole class we have 1 hour a week to work on the skills they are struggling with. That being said our library and all classroom libraries are set up through AR. This system does not support these books when the place a child into a "level". In my school we don't do the prizes a pep rallies. We just place students with leveled text according to the STAR tests, this is how they book shop, and this is how we keep a check on their free choice independent reading comprehension. There is always the exception and we teach the SISTERS book choice rules. My issue is does anyone have a conversion for AR? I have over 1,600 books in my CLASSROOM library that I have labeled, dotted, kissed, cried over, cursed, and coveted. I am going to CRYYYYYYYYYYYYY if I have to start over. We may not be using AR in three years but as for now it is THAT far away so that is 3 more years of children being trained to book shop the AR way........fingers crossed.

No clue what it is is...but....google conversion charts.

Are you looking AR level to Istation level?

Here is a good comparison chart

http://library.springbranchisd.com/s...omparisons.htm

It doesn't include istations - but it has many other comparisons.

Once I get my istation login - I will see what they have available.

I don't have an answer for your conversion problem, but I am VERY curious to hear about Istation. We have just started using it at our school, and are still working out the kinks. ANY info you can share with me will be very much appreciated. Thanks!

We have used IStation for the past 4 years and AR for close to 15 years. I give my students the STAR test and the Istation test also. If you print out the results it both will give you a reading level. I compared them and they are very close to the same levels. EXample: Student a is a 2.2 on ISTation and a 2.3 on STar. The comparison showed that if I used the Star and AR reading levels they were very close to IStation so I didn't change any of my book levels. We use Daily 5 and my books in my classroom library are leveled for AR use.
