Our superintendent wants us to attend training sessions for CKH. I teach Kindergarten. If you have attended this training, would you help me by answering some questions I have?

Is this program geared toward my grade level?

Is it worthwhile?

Thanks!

There are some really good things about CKH that are geared towards any grade level. It has been some years since I was trained and, like so many programs at my school, has gradually faded from the forefront, but I still use the greeting and the four questions in 2nd grade. I begin our day with good news but only occasionally end with a launch. You will learn what I am talking about.

I took it many years ago, but I didn't care for it. I like the "idea" of it, but honestly any good teacher is going to do similar things.

My kids come strolling in for 40 min. (different buses), so I don't stand in the doorway to greet them. Instead, I say good morning from my kidney table and check homework as they trickle in. That way I can work with any who need help. So that part never worked for me. That's just one example.

Our district sent everyone to it, but rarely anyone stuck with the different parts for more than a year or so. Everyone just seems to find their own way of making kids feel welcome and loved. It's hard to force it a certain way.
