Cute! The box is perfect for Stella and I know you'll enjoy the InstaPot.

I'm more interested in the cat toy to the left...tell me about that! My cats need something like that, but is it homemade? If yes, how/what did you use?

TIA! (My 5 cats will greatly appreciate any info you can provide).

You're gonna love your new toy. Youtube has great beginner videos that guide you step by step through the process. It's so easy. Have fun.

A few of the many good tips from PT cooks:

The thing on the left is just a plant stand. I hung her wand toys on it so I can find one when she wants to play. It keeps them organized in one place.

I have found this site very helpful.
https://www.pressurecookrecipes.com/

It really is not anything to be intimidated by. Just start with something easy like hard boiled eggs. I use mine several times a weekó it may not be a big meal type things, but for things like eggs, steel cut oatmeal, quinoa, rice, chicken stock, yogurt, etc. I want to try chicken Parmesan from Skinny Taste sometime this week.

New toy

Congratulations! You have already received the best suggestions. But wait, there's more!

Amy and Jacky have a very active Facebook page and YouTube videos. There are a number of additional accessories that you will find helpful. One of my favorites is the steam redirector. I have this one and a really cute dragon. The most dangerous step is releasing the pressure valve. Be sure to use a towel or a pair of tongs to turn the valve. You do not want to be in the path of the steam once you release it.

You'll really enjoy how tender meats are when you use the pressure cooker. But don't be surprised that it may take longer for the cooker to "come up to pressure" before the the countdown timer begins.

Rings

I also recommend having additional, different colored silicone rings. The rings absorb the aromas of what you're cooking. You may want one color for savory and one for sweet recipes.

steam redirector
Old 01-14-2020, 06:12 AM

So I was told that the redirector is not recommended. I don't know why. You get used to the steam being quick released. I make sure my IP is not under any cabinets as the steam can wear away the finish.

I love my IP. I just made chicken noodle soup in it.

Do we have a group here for the IP?

An instant pot group would be great (especially for those of us not on FB). As for releasing the steam- I just use the handle end of a wooden spoon and have never had any qualms about it. I do have the extra silicone rings. What I have noticed is that even if you have a ring that smells ďsavoryĒ it doesnít seem to impart that flavor on other foods that you cook.
