My crayola pencil crayons are terrible! The leads inside are broken so they constantly break when students sharpen them. Crayola used to be my go to for quality but something has changed. What brand should I look for instead?

Unfortunately, I think they're still your best bet.

Unless you want to spend on art quality pencils, Crayola is your best bet. Have you contacted them about the broken leads? I’ve never had anything less than stellar customer service from them.

So I went to Amazon to check reviews. That didn't help. But I have to share what I did find. There is a Crayloa product called Tower of Crayons with 150 crayons. You may want to rush over before they sell out. They're on sale. In 2015 the going price was $170.00, now it's only $153.00. This is not a mistake! So you better hurry. BTW, years ago I bought one at Office Depot but I certainly didn't pay that much!

I bought some at Hobby Lobby along with some adult coloring books. I don't know the brand. It wasn't Crayola, though. I really like them!

It my not be a mistake to you, but to me those are VERY expensive crayons—at $153 for 150 crayons, that’s over $1 per crayon.

There are times when I really wonder about the prices on some items on Amazon. What surprised me was a comment from 2015 about the $170.00 price. At the same time they have another Crayola product with 150 crayons, a sharpener, and a display box for $12.00. Just so strange!

I doubt I paid more than $15 at Office Depot.

I gave up on Crayola coloured pencils ages ago - they are awful. I’ve had a bit better luck with Staples brand, the ones in the blue box that are made by Staedtler.

I can sometimes find Staedtler coloured pencils at Dollarama as well. I don’t love how they color but they sharpen well and my kiddos were obsessed with my “fancy German pencils.”
