DD is still taking her meds, communicating DAILY again and started a job at a TX Roadhouse last week, which she told us she likes! Creditor called her and told her if she paid $1000 on the car loan instead of the little more than $4000 she owes, they would wipe her slate clean (it was repossessed in September)! DH is talking to them tomorrow and we will probably pay it off for her over the phone. We are holding our breath and praying she continues with her Abilify.

Don’t pay off that car debt over the phone. — get it in writing that the $1,000 will be the final payment with nothing more to pay. Otherwise, can deny that they said that to you or that you ‘misunderstood.

I'd be extremely leery of this! Check into it in greater depth before you make any payment!

I agree with getting the car payoff agreement in writing. My daughter had a similar experience with a huge medical bill - they said one thing, then changed the story later after she agreed to it.
