Does anyone have an example of a 'Back to school' letter they use. I am going self contained this year so I haven't done one in a long time. Not sure what to put in the letter, or how detailed. Any tips will help......Thanks

Nothing spectacular, but an example.

it's generally the same as 1956BD's letter. The kids and parents enjoy knowing a little about me, my family and hobbies, etc. It's a more personal way of making those first connections between the parents, the students, and you.

Introducing yourself in this way makes you seem more human, and less like you might sleep on the chalk tray at night-----though the kids will still be amazed when they see you at the grocery store or the mall! Oops, run-on sentence there, sorry.

This year, Im also thinking about making a mini poster w/ pix of my family and our dog, and posting it in time for Meet Your Teacher night. It remains to be seen whether or not I'll find the motivation to do that.

You'll love teaching 3rd, and I wish you the very best year as we get ready to open for 2009-10!
