I am looking for a list of trade books by grade level that can be used as benchmark books for assessment purposes. Any ideas where I can find book suggestions?

You can use Scholastic Book Wizard to find books at each guided reading level or other leveling system. Put the level in the search box on top.

For assessment purposes Reading A to Z is the way to go! If your school system doesn't provide access I believe you can still try it out for 30 days for free.

See if your school will spring for the Developmental Reading Assessment: https://www.pearsonassessments.com/s...roduct-details

It uses fiction and non-fiction books at various levels to assess reading level.

You might also look around the school for old leveled books, fiction and non-fiction, and create your own assessment kit. The trick is that each level of books has some that are a bit easy, some a bit hard, and some in the middle. Discovering which books are which can be a problem.
