Sticker wallpaper

So my daughter invited us up to her place to help her redecorate. We've put in new flooring, painted walls and trim, and are putting up wainscoting, shelves, mounting the television, and a feature wall of wallpaper.

I was all aboard for everything, until she pulled out the "sticker wallpaper," which is, she said, the latest and greatest according to HGTV.

D**& HGTV! I wish she'd have asked me. Sticker wallpaper is repositionable contact paper. It doesn't go on nearly as easily as wallpaper. It's really hard to hang straight, and hard to smooth, and just plain three times as hard has wallpaper.

Unless you are desperate for a cheap looking wallpaper that will peel off when you move out of a rental unit (she owns her house) DON'T BUY THIS STUPID STUFF.

And don't buy plaid ever, and particularly in an old house where all the walls are crooked. Thanks for letting me vent. I don't want to hurt her feelings.

Well, maybe she’ll get one sheet up and realize her mistake and you can jump in with a solution.

so I totally get how you feel!

Be prepared for potty words, tears etc.

I like the barnboard look on one wall but I KNOW it would be the same issue. What looks good on HGTV does not always look the same in your house.

Good luck!

I’m sorry to laugh, but your description was so vivid! And plaid to boot!

In fact, what looks good on HGTV doesn’t even look good on HGTV up close.

I feel your pain, I do. My old condo has some definite issues with straight and level.

But how very sweet of you to help your DD decorate.

HGTV is a infomercial on steroids. You know the products they use are provided those product's owners/producers to be featured and people will BUY them.

Wall papering is bad enough, can't imagine sticker type wallpaper. I thought at first you were talking about those smaller accent decorations.
