10 fun activities for the end of school

I wanted to have a blast off to 3rd grade theme. I thought maybe 10 activities that could be tied to academics somehow. The class would have to earn the activity each day based on their behavior the day before. Does anyone have any fun/creative ideas they could suggest?

Reader's theater? The kids could act out the play. Picnic lunch outside? Kickball game?

Rockets

The past 10 years we have put together rockets (with the help of parent volunteers). We get a grant from the Rotary. We call it Blasting Off to Third Grade!! I also have a rocket bulletin board outside of my classroom with the caption "Blasting Off for Third Grade". I have the number of school days listed on the rocket. Every day we remove a number. Our rocket launching day is a BIG HIT all over the school! You could do it smaller with water rockets!!

Where could I get water rockets? I like that you took the blast off to a whole 'nother level.

Same Idea

I was thinking about doing the same idea for the last few weeks of our year.

I got a box and decorated it with our classroom theme. Each day I am going to sit the box at the front of the classroom. The box is going to have a clue in it for something special we get to do that day. The class has to earn the special activity, just like you said. At lunch time, if we have earned the activity we will open the box and use the clue to figure out the activity. Then we will do the activity at the end of the day.

Some ideas for special activities...
1) A scavenger hunt around the school, where they have to read clues. I thought it would be fun to end in the 3rd grade room and let them talk to their teacher next year. (We only have one 3rd grade).

2) Buddy read with a younger class outside in our outside learning area

3) Smartboard class game

4) Special art activity or craft (my class this year loves to make things)

5) Science experiment or activity

I am excited to see what other ideas people have to post. I am still working on my list.

Walmart! They sell them with their swimming/summer supplies! Much more inexpensive than the rockets with the engines!!!

I wanted to see them online....are they called water rockets? About how much do they cost?

I'm loving some of these ideas....I am hoping more people will add ideas as well.

Someone suggested drop everything and read. That would be a good addition.

My daughter suggested making a geyser with diet coke and mentos....I found a tube that supposedly shoots pop up 30 feet on Amazon. I figure this could be the "blast off" day.
