group names.....

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi,

Decided on doing a board game room. Have found alot of information on this site. I am just stuck again. The last 3 years, I have taught middle school resource math.(first and only teaching job) We did not use alot of themes or such. But last year, our school got a new principal from a elementary school, and he wants us to use themes, change bulletin boards monthly, and have a data wall.(which I always have)

Alot of us are struggling with this. When I look at pics of other rooms on this and other sites, I find I have a looooong way to go.

Any ways, I was needing help again with group names based on board games. I normally have 4 groups. I am also trying work stations this year. I attempted last year, but it fizzled after Christmas.

Any help on group names? Or names for their in-class note binder?

Thank you again.

I am so glad I found this group.

You could have the dice, spinners, cards, and markers (the playing pieces. Or were you looking for something more about the games? Like the Battleships, Mad Gabs, Checkers, etc.

Hope that helps!!

I am VERY tired so my creative juices are definitely not in full force and may be even a bit lame Sorry in advance., just simply brainstorming first ideas that pop in my head.

Not sure if you are looking for a one-word binder acronym or not so I have listed acronyms and catchy lines
  • "Scores of Notes" or just Score binder
  • Get a Clue, Take Notes or just Clue binder
  • Strategy binder
  • Don't be Sorry, Take Notes!
  • Don't Get Trapped...use your Mouse to record notes (Mouse Trap)
  • Connect binder
  • Cranium binder
Group Name Ideas
  • Goofy, but thought I'd put it out there- Objects from the Clue game like the weapons or the character names (Group Scarlett, Mustard, White, etc or Revovler, Candlestick, etc.
  • Chess: kings, queens, knights, etc.
  • Monopoly game pieces could be fun(ny)
  • Checkers, dice, money, cards, timer, etc...
  • Milton Bradley, Hasbro, Parker Brothers, etc...
  • Trouble, Sorry, Risk, Chess (have student groups make acronyms for their group gameboard name
I am going to think tomorrow. This is a fun theme and I know I can put a bit more thought into it and come up with more useful info.

Board Game Ideas

I am doing a board game theme this year, too! :-) I will take pictures tomorrow and try to post them.

For a binder you could use G.A.M.E.S. - Goals And Motivation Equal Success

For groups, I like the game manufacturers (Milton Bradley, Hasbro, Parker Brothers, etc) idea. I may use that myself!!!

If you have 4 groups, what about the railroads names from Monopoly?

Or the 4 topics from Cranium?

I love all these suggestions. My creativity is no where it used to be. The only one I could think of was life's learners.

Yall are amazing. I would love to see pics of your rooms.

HI,

I found your post about the back wall rules for life. I love those. I was wondering 2 things. Is it ok if I borrow a couple of them for my room and 2nd where do you go to get them enlarged? I am working on something else, and usually go to vista print, but my latest project they stated the dimensions were wrong.

Thank you

ABSOLUTELY USE THEM!!!!! Did I ever post the finished files or just the picture? If I didn't, I will post them here. I just printed each page in color and brought them to Office Depot. They can enlarge it up to 11 x 17, so they aren't as big as I wanted them, but they look good. I forgot my camera yesterday, so I will bring it on Tuesday when I go back.
