How do you hold your scissors???

I had no idea that there was another way!

I read today's post of one of my favorite bloggers and laughed at her husband.

Read the comments and said, "WHHHHAAAAAT?!"

Made DH try it out and he's a weirdo.

Another one of those interesting things that we all think we do the one (right) way....

*I have my forefinger inside (but not pinky because it doesn't fit)--blogger is using specialty scissors with long hole--think that's why her pinky fits.

Thatís interesting. Of course I had to go get a pair to check. I do forefinger out...DH & my dad do all fingers in if they fit. DH does forefinger out if the hole is too small for all fingers, dad does ring finger out if all fingers donít fit.

All fingers in. If they don't fit the scissors don't belong in my house! (Unless they're nail or hair scissors, which are meant for just your thumb and index fingers.)

I just made 3 of my 4 immediate family members hold the scissors. We all do it the same way- fingers in (if there isn't enough room, we all leave the pinky and possibly the ring finger out and not the index finger). It feels really weird to leave the index finger out!

eta, just made the other family member, and she has her index finger out!! But then she started actually cutting and she did it the right way (like the rest of us did) Turns out, she just didn't know

I never gave it much thought. I grabbed four of the scissors I use most in my sewing and tested them. Here are the scissors:

I hold them differently!
The large silver one -index finger out.
Pinking shears - index and pinky out
Little pair with black handle- just use thumb and middle finger
Bend handle scissors- just the thumb and middle finger

That was fun, thanks!

I am comfortable with the index finger out. I tried it the other way with pinky out and it wasn't comfortable.

I had to go check. Index finger out. I just tried with all fingers in, and that feels really weird.
