I didn’t want to hijack the meme post. I make similar mittens from wool sweaters and also put in a fleece lining. Here in WI they are one of my best sellers at craft shows. They are super warm!

My sister in law gave DD and me those super warm craft show mittens a few years ago for Christmas. We love them! We're feeling stylish and on-trend for the first time in our lives.

I have a pair that I love. I keep them at school for recess. I bought them from a local organization that helps women learn marketable skills. They started by selling soup mixes and the n expanded into other products. All the recent publicity about the mittens has brought a ton of attention to the organization and they had a very busy last few days. It is kind of neat that those memes are doing good things to many people in different ways.

Those mittens were made by a teacher from repurchased wool sweaters from a thrift store. All my yarn work groups on Facebook are buzzing about this right now.

Yup, I have scoured Goodwill for wool sweaters to wash in hot water and dry on high heat. It shrinks them up making the fibers tight, thus creating really warm mittens. Right now I have three Rubbermaid tubs of shrunk up wool sweaters ready and waiting to be made into mittens.

I find it interesting they keep saying the lining is made from recycled plastic bottles. This is nothing new— that is what the fleece those of us in colder climates use to keep cozy and warm

So would you sell them on here? I need some super warm mittens. I just started using a scooter and it takes a while to load it into my car - my hands have been painfully cold the last few days while doing it.
