This whole website is awesome. I love the support and ideas on here!

So, I will be tutoring a 4th grade girl with dyslexia this summer and next fall. What are some of your favorite activities and strategies for students with reading disabilities?

if you have an ipad there are some apps that have stuff good for dyslexia

I'd use the colored acetate overlays or strips. Different people prefer different colors so have her look through a few colors. There's a website that does this too, so maybe she could look at that and decide which helps her read the best.

There's a font for dyslexics that's heavy at the bottom and tapers off at the top of the letters. I can't recall the name of it.

If you can get stories that have a bit more spacing in them, that would probably help.

There's research that supports a kinesthetic component and dyslexia. Google that. Maybe incorporating some exercises involving movement and specific balancing techniques.
