EdMark Placement test?

Yes, I know school has started, but I am still assessing my students and have never formally taught EdMark. I teach 6th-8th Life Skills FWIW.

Is there a placement test for EdMark or do I just start students who are new to the program on Day 1?

For example, I have two seventh-graders who know their letter sounds, but know two pre-primer sight words and do not know all their color or number words.

If you know students are not decoders, you can just start at the beginning to make sure they memorize all of the words. I skip a lesson when it's clear the student already knows it.

Sometimes I get new students who have done Edmark in other classrooms. To assess where they should start, I made a set of flashcards, and just do a +/- check on a copy of the word list. Then I start wherever it looks like they've stopped, or missed three in a row.

Hope this helps!
