I feel like Iím being judged and compared to the veteran sped teacher I replaced. It is really frustrating to be working my butt off and still feel like Iím failing by some peopleís opinions.

I know people were talking and judging when I started at my school as a brand new teacher. I worked my butt off, and I still think I was good. But I have more confidence, experience and skill as an older teacher (though I have less patience for school politics). I found that once you find your step and other teacher see you doing a decent job, they will respect you. Just keep your head down, do your best and you will hit your own stride. While it is frustrating to feel others are judging you, it is just background noise. Think of it as an exercise in growing a thicker skin, which is definitely something that is helpful to have as a teacher.
