I know there is constant debate over grading for our students. I'm curious as to what
type of assignments/skills make up your students reading grades.

use the 4 point scale on the IEP progress reports, and attach them to the report cards that the general education teachers send home. For all areas of specially designed instruction, I write see attached progress report. I am following district protocol in doing it this way. The report cards are grade level standards-based at the elementary level, which means that all my students would get below standard marks in their academic areas of SDI, which is why they are in sped in the first place.

I also have students correct mistakes on assignments before considering them done.

As a first year spec ed teacher, I used fluency-words correct/words possible, Accelerated Reading quizzes, comprehension tests, main idea, sequencing, inferences cards, vocabulary quizzes. Sometimes I used the end of unit scoring page that shows level of comprehension. I have implemented a few of these of the year.
