I was just wondering if this room was going to start up again since the school year started! I am actually using growing readers but would love to hear what others are doing in reading workshop right now

I think it would be great if we could get this room up and running for the school year. I would love to be a part of the conversations!

I want to be on here too, but I just haven't really gotten into the strategies yet! I've been doing RW everyday, and will soon be really getting more into Miller. Let's keep it alive!

I can't wait to hear how you mesh Miller and GR. I started looking at it this weekend and I'm just a little nervous that I won't get through everything in time. Last year I know that you just did Miller...at what time in the year where you finished with her units? Do you think everything will fit if you do both Miller and GR? Thanks!

I sure home people get on this page when they start the units. As a new teacher doing this all alone at my school I need the support of this board

I have never noticed this board but would love to join in the talk! I interened in a 4-blocks school and am in my 5th year of a balanced literacy school and of using Debbie Miller as a role model for readers workshop. I have never taught all of her units-I do not do synthasising or determining importance. As a school we mapped out which units each grade would work on and how to build on them. I'll check back becuse I love new ideas and thoughts!

I'm all for keeping this board going too! I've just started Readers Workshop in the past few days and it's going so well. I'm also trying to mesh Growing Readers and Reading with Meaning this year also. It seems like a lot, but I think covering some of it in read alouds during other parts of the day will really help.
