Whole group area/library questions

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I started out with a very small classroom when I began teaching K so my whole group area doubled as the library. Even though my room has gotten bigger (and so have my kids since I've moved up to 4th), I've always had the library and whole group area do double duty. Last year I had those foam squares to serve as a carpet in the back corner of my room and the library was in the built-in cubbies along one side. We didn't use the area for whole group very often, but it seemed to be a good size for independent reading purposes. I'm considering changing it up but I have a few questions.

Do you have a whole group teaching area other than student desks?

If you have a Smartboard, is it closer to the desks or your rug area?

Is your library area separate from a whole group teaching area?

Any suggestions on how your room is set up would be appreciated!
