There is a good All About Me poster if you search 4th grade first day of school on this website. If I could figure out how to attach something to my reply, I would attach it for you!

I have done this activity for the last few years and the kids love it. The finished product also makes a great display for open house. I have students list adjectives about themselves and then create a wordle 'all about them'. I have a wordle posted on the door of the classroom with my name, all the stdents' names, grade 4 and our room number as an example.

a is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the text. They can be used in any subject area. I would suggest you check out the site and when you use them with your students, have them go right wordle.net/create --this way, they will avoid any inappropriate wordles that may be posted. I love wordles!

ME Bag

I love this activity...I found it on Teacher's Clubhouse, but easily adaptable.
Basically, you give each student a paper bag and tell them to fill it with 5 items that represent them. The items must fit inside the bag, and not so heavy that they can't carry it themselves.
I assign it for homework the first night and then we take a couple minutes each day for the next week or so. I take a bag and show the contents and the kids then guess which one of their classmates the items represent.
In my end of the year 4th Grade Top Ten, this activity was on several students' lists!
