What books are you thinking about using for your mini lessons on schema?

I wish I could look at my bookshelf at school, but off the top of my head, my favorites this year were:

Oliver Button is a Sissy
anything by Kevin Henkes
Ira Sleeps Over (the BEST!! for this)
Soft House by Yolen (2nd favorite)... about a brother and sister who make a tent-- a soft house-- in their house, and written beautifully
The Relatives Came

Mr Grigg's Work is a little known Rylant book (at least I didn't know it) but is EXCELLENT for modeling how you make connections. It's about a postman who loves his job so much that he thinks about it everywhere he goes, and I was really able to explain my connections with the book to my kids! I love it!

I think ENEMY PIE (don't recall the author's name) would be good for schema/making connections. It's about a boy who has an "enemy" and his dad helps him make enemy pie. Very cute (and I have a hard time getting through the end without choking-up)!

Enemy Pie by Derek Munson is a good book for making connections. I have used this with high school students and they can all come up with connections to having an enemy becoming a friend.
