Hi
I am wanting to read a Debbie Miller book. Is it best to start with Reading With Meaning?
I noticed a newer one about working with small groups. Would that be a better choice?
Thank you for your advice.

I would highly recommend starting with Reading With Meaning. It is Debbie's first book and lays out the foundation for what Reading Workshop looks like in her classroom. I enjoyed the book so much that I read it in less than a week and then went back and read it again! Debbie has a wonderful way with words. It feels like you are sitting with her in her classroom and listening to her talk to you one-on-one! For me, this book marks the beginning of a new philosophy on teaching.

Debbie's other book is Teaching With Intention. This is also a wonderful book that I definitely recommend for a later read.

I believe that the "small groups" book that you are referring to is written by Debbie Diller, not Debbie Miller.

Happy Reading!!!

I love Reading with Meaning too! Start there. Teaching with intention is also a great read. I wish she would publish some more!

I agree with everyone else...Reading with Meaning is a great place to start. It is a great read and you will find yourself really thinking about why we read and what you really need to be teaching the students in order to make them lifelong readers. Best of luck! Let us all know how it goes!
