Our back to school night is next Monday. i have started the readers and writers workshop with the students and was wondering if anyone has anything they give to the parents about the rw or ww? Or maybe what you tell them about the rw or ww? Need some helpful tips. this is my first year teaching rw and ww. Thanks!

I spend a lot of time talking about the philosophy behind RW and WW. I find that most parents are most familiar with Basal programs and worksheets, and they need to understand the WHY behind this approach. I also talk about my own philosophy and why I am so passionate about it. I gave lots of examples of minilessons and spent time on mentor texts and explaining how it helps grow comprehension skills so that when fluency catches up, the students know how to understand what they read on a deeper level .
