What books can you recommend for mini-lessons on text-to-world?
Thanks!

What grade are you? Eve Bunting is always suggested. I will read the stories to my second graders but the T-W part can be tough for them. I spend very little time on this one with 2nd graders. Their schema just isn't that big for world events. They have been around for such a short time! I try and look for books that they can line to a big events - usually a natural disaster that took place with in the last year! Or maybe something in your community?
There is a Dr Seuss book that they are able to connect to our problems with pollution. I can't remember the title but it's pretty easy to find. I used it last yr in 1st and it totally worked. I have also been able to pull article from the TFK website.

I think that is the actual title. You can connect it to the mess we had this summer.

I read a book called "The Enemy"- it talks about a war which can easily be related, Read the Lorax- talk about pollution, I agree with a previous poster- text -world is harder for the young ones as they just dont have too much knowledge surrounding world events.
