Grade Level Resources

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hello fellow 4th grade teachers!

I'm in the process of attempting to create a resource folder for my 4th grade team. I want to provide them with various things that will assist them with instruction as well as school procedures. Here's what I'm already thinking about including:
  • NGSSS Standards for each Subject (I teach in FL)
  • Field Trip Procedures
  • Attendance Procedures
  • District's Homework Policy
  • Grade Book Procedures
  • Student Information Sheet
  • Photo Release Form
  • PG Movie Consent Form
  • FCAT Reading Question Task Cards
  • Author's Intent Poster
  • Reading Posters on: Text Features, Text Structures, Figurative Language, Theme/Topic, etc...
  • Vocabulary Strategies
  • Writing Tips
  • Math Reference Sheets
  • Science Reference Sheet
  • Science Fair Info
  • Social Studies Reference Sheet
My questions are:
  1. Do all of these resources seem overwhelming to give to a grade level team at the beginning of the school year?
  2. If someone gave this to you, would you find it useful?
  3. Is there anything else you would add to the list?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm in my 26th year of teaching, but yet my first year teaching 4th grade, so I kind of feel ike a newbie. After reading your list, it first looked overwhelming, but then I realized it would be very helpful to have everthing in one place which meant that I wouldn't have to search for this info in the office, etc. So, I think this is great as long as it's in a folder or binder.
I assume you are a team leader? What about a daily schedule for your team and a duty schedule....unless you don't have any duties. (which would be nice.)

Have a great year!

I too thought it was a bit overwhelming but how great to have everything at your fingers tips. Great job! They are lucky to have you as their team leader.

Thank you so much for all your replies! Yes, I am my team's grade level chair (i.e. team leader). I am planning on giving them a folder with this information. Since we are departmentalized, not everyone is going to have the entire list of things except for those teachers who do teach all the subject areas.

Thanks for the recommendation of adding the emergency procedures and the school calendar. I wanted to give them a calendar with the testing dates, tentative grade level meeting dates, and tentative dates for future field trips, activities, etc...

I was also thinking of adding a list of useful website and online resources that they can use for instruction and to help them set up their sub plans (we are required to have 5 days worth of plans in case of an emergency).

Thanks again for all your help!
