First day started with sad news

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am a long time member but want to post anonymously for this.

We started our first day of school by being called to an 8:00 meeting (right as parents were dropping off kids in our rooms) to tell us that the adult son of one of our teachers died of a heart attack last night. Many of us taught this man, most of us have known him his whole life, and both his parents and also his step parent are employed in our district. It is just so sad. Very hard to "pull it together" to create an upbeat day. We did it. But of course we are exhausted. Ugh. Just so sad.

My thoughts are with the family and your school.

Many years ago, the husband of a brand new teacher on our team took his life in front of her. They were expecting their first child....

Oh, I'm so sorry. What a sad thing at any time, but to start your first day learning that...how difficult.

I'm so sorry. Happened to me with a friend a few years ago, although I didn't know the child of my colleague. Best wishes to you and your colleagues.
