That time of year

Clip to ScrapBook #1

When on Facebook I see teacher friends posting pictures and long paragraphs about how they're so happy to be in a better school, have beautiful classrooms, not be full of anxiety because they get a fresh start at a new school. I'm serious, half my teacher friends are at new schools.

And I'm still right where I was last year. I tried yet again to get out, switch to a better school and nothing worked out.

I know, I know, stay off Facebook.

Sorry-- it's hard to feel positive about things when you're unhappy and you see others who seem happy. Yep, stay off FB!

No One Gets Out

I guess we are lucky that basically no one transfers around here. You would lose all your seniority, so teachers who transfer to another district can easily be laid off the next year. We do have some that move schools, but not many!

I prefer the "devil I know" to the unknown. The green is not always greener. Hang in there (and stay off FB!)

I would hide the teachers who post all that stuff. You certainly don't need to see it.

Your words have helped. Grass is not always greener and I'm fortunate to have a job. I know I'm good at what I do I just hope there's a school out there that's better for me or that this one improves. I try to make the best of it.

I have to agree with Mshope, when I was teaching because to me the "devil" that I knew was better than the unknown one.

Stay positive and have a great year!!

I'm sorry that you weren't able to transfer out. Keep an eye out and try again. Maybe after this year, your friends would have some clout and be able to help facilitate your transfer.

You are right to be thankful for your job. I try to think of that when I feel like I'm having a terrible day. I think back to all the jobs that I hated, but did until a school brought me on to remind myself of how good I actually have it.

Hugs to you and hope that something better is waiting for you!
