Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi there!

I have been co-teaching first grade since January, and as of yesterday, my placement has been moved to second grade. I was in an urban school, and now traveling WAY out to the boonies!

I loved my first graders, but can anyone give me advice as to what to expect from the 2nd graders? I know it's not that big of a jump, but there are going to be differences, and I like to be prepared.

Thanks so much!!

It really depends on your kids, but I have found that since their reading levels are much higher than grade ones, they are able to do more in the literacy department! So...you may want to find poems and books for your literacy program that require more thinking and less word recognition type of stuff....
I also found that they are less tired than grade ones by the end of the day, so you can actually get more done with them...other than those ideas, they aren't a whole lot different when it comes to reinforcing routines! Good luck!
