I've been asked to tutor a former student this summer. What is the going rate? I would be working with him on reading and writing. I am Orton-Gillingham trained, but not certified if that makes a difference. Thank you!

I think it depends where you are. Going rate where I was in Louisiana was about $30 an hour. Here in Denver itís twice that.

Tutoring rates vary greatly in different areas. I'm in an affluent, suburban area, and tutors charge $65-$90 an hour.

I also charge on a sliding scale depending on how much help they need and how much work it will be for me outside of the time spent with the student.

The range is from 40-65

I'm in Minnesota. I have a masters degree. I charge $40 per hour. For families that I know are struggling and can't afford, I go as low as $30. For one particular family that was a pain in my "you know what" (who was also extremely wealthy) I charged $60! It was truly because it was a VERY difficult child. That only lasted 6 weeks before it wasn't worth it to me even for $60! lol

Tutors charge between $60/hour for younger grades to $150/ hour for something like Calculus.
