Nothing seems to work

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My school went from three second grade classes to two in November and since then it has been a constant struggle and it continues to get worse.
Everyday I spend more time putting out fights and fires than I do teaching. My students will not sit in their seats for me and they will talk loudly while I am teaching. I leave everyday with a headache because the classroom is so loud. I have added a lot of incentives for doing what they are supposed to be doing. I call home. I send notes home. I focus on the positive.
I have tried a classroom reset but it does not seem to be working and its exhausting.

Every day, same people do that. No suggestions bc I've tried everything too. Something we don't hear often - it's not us.

Do you have a discipline ladder that you follow in order to get administration involved? If you have a strong administration team, they should be available for assistance! Approximately how many students do you have in each class? I'm going through the same thing! I call parents and it doesn't help. It has been a waste of my time. Kids laugh at paddling and punishment. I have mentally checked out. In the beginning, I would tire myself out but now I don't. My school has extremely high teacher turnover so it's really a matter of surviving the teacher shortage there. Each day brings problems but I know longer take it home. There are only a few more months left in this school year and it will be behind me and I'm moving on to greener pastures.

do you have in your class? I teach second and had 30 students last year. Fortunately, they were good kids. Unfortunately, with 30, even good kids get shortchanged. I only have 20 this year, but due to the dynamics of the group, it still feels like 30.

I have 27. I had 17 until they closed one of the classrooms down and moved that teacher to another grade.
