Surgery update
Old 03-14-2020, 08:12 PM

My left ovary and tube were removed by laproscopic surgery yesterday due to a large cyst. Two weeks ago it was just under 10 cm. The doctor told my husband it grew to the size of a softball. He said it didn't look cancerous but we have to wait on the pathology report the end of next week to know for sure.

I have a seizure disorder and had a seizure three nights before surgery so the anesthesiologist said I needed a neurologist to clear me for surgery. I was able to get an appointment and he gave me clearance. The anesthesiologist gave me a medication in my IV that would raise my seizure threshold under anesthesia. When I woke up from the surgery the first thing I did was to ask if I had any seizures. Thankfully I did not.

When they were wheeling me out of the room to go to the operating room I told my husband to look at my phone. I typed s text message for him but didn't send it. It was a message saying what he means to me and also if hope in the Lord. I don't remember even a second after that. I didn't realize they had already put the medication in my IV.

I couldn't get my pain medication because the pharmacist said the drug was in the same family as the medications the neurologist said I need to avoid. This worried me but after the medication from the hospital wore off, I still felt well. I slept all night, except once I got up to use the bathroom. Then I slept the rest of the night, which is unusual for me. Today I took one Tylenol because I was afraid the discomfort would get worse. Later I decided I don't even need Tylenol. I have had no shoulder pain either. I am using a rocking chair because it is easy to get in and out of because I can use my arms to get up. I even felt well enough to sit on the porch in the sun today.

The doctor prepared me that I could be hurting for days. I feel some pressure and tenderness when I stand. That's it. I feel so blessed to be doing so well.

Wow, what an update! It sounds like you are feeling well, and I hope that continues and this is all a distant memory soon. I'm glad the surgery went well and keeping my fingers crossed the update on the pathology report is clear.

So glad for your good report. Glad you aren't in pain but continue to take it easy. The sun felt so good today! Did your district close?

So happy it went well. Take it easy and give your body time to recover fully. Let us know when you receive that all clear pathology report.

My school district closed for two werks starting Monday. I expect the governor will reevaluate the situation before allowing schools to reopen.

My husband has been here for me, not letting me do a thing until later in the day when he started to feel sick. I didn't do much, but I needed to get up and walk around so I did little things like letting the dog out and emptying the dishwasher. I just want him to be well and not wind up in the hospital.

I welcome any prayers for my husband to be well.

Overall sounds very positive. I was doing fine until I reached the paragraph about your text message to your husband. I'm still teary eyed after reading it.

At least now you both have the time to take care of yourselves. Continue to let us know how you both are doing. We need all the good news we can get!

I am so glad the surgery went well and you are having very little pain! That is major! I am praying that you continue to recover at this same pace and that your news from the pathologist will be good!
