See Saw?

Would this make life easier or more confusing for parents. Right now I send a daily email with links and all the plans. Our 1sr grade teachers use this and like it.

Those who have used it- should I start it? We’re out for at least through April. Thanks!

I think Seesaw is pretty nice, especially for younger students. You can make interactive activities and kids can type, write or record themselves.

I say go for it. What it really isn't is a place to post links to other websites. Keep those type of things in an email.

Would I be able to upload teaching videos that I make using QuickTime? Thanks!

I am not using it this year so I don't know for sure. I think I heard that they have to be short. Hopefully someone who is using it more than I am can come answer that question.

I love SeeSaw...but...

I love SeeSaw! However, if your families/kids aren't used to it, it might not be the best to start new, especially if they aren't familiar with it. It has worked nicely for e-learning, but I'd hate for you to use it and then have parents upset or frustrated because they can't figure it out.

We are using both SeeSaw and Google Classroom, as some things work better in Google Classroom, especially for older students. It's getting parents frustrated that there is more than one platform they need to be familiar with.

I believe if you make a video in SeeSaw, it's limited to 5 minutes. I'm not sure if you can upload a quick time video that is longer.

Seesaw

I have been posting my links and announcements through the Student Announcements section of Seesaw. The links work fine.

If parents and students haven't used Seesaw before, it might not be the best time to start using it.

I have been recording videos, and using zoom startled conferring with them using razkids and their writing that parents snapped photos of - I learned how to share the screen so I can even do running records using my document camera.

Maybe I should just stick to what’s been working. We don’t want to stress out parents any more than they already are.

Thanks for your input. I'll definitely use Seesaw next year so I can teach them in class before having them get the app for home.

I agree with others, that it might not be the best time to start.

It is awesome, though so definitely try it out, when you have time. You can upload longer videos. It's just that any videos you make IN seesaw are limited to 5 min. Also, I have been posting links in activities, such as a story or song I want them to see from youtube and it works just fine.

For myself & my class, it has made this e-learning time much easier than it would have been! Highly recommend for the future.
