Bob Ross and teenagers...

I had mentioned before that my 16 yo thinks Bob Ross is the bomb. She decided she wanted to follow his tutorial, but only listen and not watch. So she did one of his paintings by following his verbal instructions (not watching him).

This is the result.

She thinks it turned out badly. I think it's awesome! This picture really doesn't do justice to the coloring of the mountains and tree. The lighting of my picture seems to highlight the green stuff instead.

That is an awesome picture. DD did an excellent job especially just through his verbal instructions.

I think the painting is wonderful. How clever to listen and not watch!

I turn on Bob Ross for my DGD when itís nap time, but she isnít quite ready to sleep. Sheís usually out like a light in 10 minutes!

His voice and actions are very soothing.

Her painting by verbal instructions only is 1000 times better than mine would ever be if I was actually watching him, haha!!

Did she have the same art materials

that Bob Ross uses? I watched him when he was on PBS live. He does his painting with a unique technique. His technique is wet on wet. He covers his canvas with a white paint first and then does the paintings. That is how he is able to get the paint to blend so well.

I hope your daughter continues to follow her talent in art. I started by doing a few Bob Ross paintings and went on to do oil paintings. I enjoy doing them and find a zen type of feeling while I am painting. I enjoy the time painting more than having the finished paintings.

I love her painting . It's wonderful to read here and there that Bob Ross fans still exist and new ones are being made. I got a kick out of the Bob Ross Halloween costumes last year

She wouldn't show me the actual picture, but she said she missed him saying "portrait" orientation and she missed the "one mountain" directive. She'll show me the original picture later today

She said it was really hard to know what the do when he'd say "let's just put the X over here..." and she had no clue where "over here" actually was

She said she did try to set of wet the canvas (I'm not sure how she did that), but she thinks he uses oils and she hates oils so she uses acrylic.

She decided she wanted to learn the paint/draw and has been working on it for a few years. She's gotten really good, imo. And she's always trying out new techniques. Art is probably the main thing that has kept my incredibly social daughter sane during this time.

Thanks for looking!

(I love that Bob Ross puts people to sleep! )
