I haven't seen it any easier than this for those who don't sew.

I am just tying a bandanna bandit style over my face. Easy as pie, and a fashionable neck scarf when I am safe inside my car. I don’t understand why I should turn it into a medical looking mask. What am I missing?

Ha! Well, as long as yours stays put without falling down and/or you having to keep pulling it up, go for it! I also like how this is more contained/enclosed and doesn't have all the loose sides/edges of just tying fabric over your nose/mouth.

the same. I folded the point into the scarf first. My husband didn't. Bandit style all the way, baby.

Funny thing is, no one looked twice.

Having the rubber bands might make it easier to take on and off, and make you feel more official and less like an old western bank robber, though.

You can get shop towels at auto parts stores. They are also sturdier than regular paper towels for cleaning.

There are neighborhoods where you really don't want to be out walking wearing a bandana so be careful.

and from my collection, I picked the cheerful yellow bandanna, and not the black bandanna with the white skulls and crossbones, even if the black and white one would have matched my outfit better.

I can make the mask but I guess I donít have the right kind of rubber bands because it pops off after just a couple of minutes.

In rural New Hampshire, I think I will be safe.

Rubber bands too long? Double them. The sock option is very comfortable.

Yes, I think these work very well. I have a good supply of bandanas because I've used them for years to carry a water bottle on a hike and to avoid taking tissues out on hikes where they might blow away from me and create litter.

For me, the advantage to facemask style as opposed to bandit style is that is actually stays on better for me and I don't have to fight my long hair to tie a knot.

I do not sew and this is perfect for me. We do have a roll of shop towels too. Thanks!

The sock idea is a great one! I hope I can remember to try it. Thanks for sharing the video.

It was interesting to see the different mask styles at the grocery store today. I was impressed by how fashionable and coordinated some people managed to be.

I like the sock idea, too. My hair ties are not big enough and need to be stretched out better to work.

You're welcome!

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=balaclava&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

I was joking with my fiance' a few days ago that if some people wore these, no one would know who the real robber is, so a real thief would have no trouble trying to be stealth!

(We actually bought a pair of not-so-menacing-colored ones.)

I didn't have any hair ties yesterday so I wore my bandanna bandit style. My glasses fogged up in less than a minute so I couldn't see anything and then the bandanna fell off my face which made it completely useless. Ironically, I was in the aisle to find hair ties so I could make the easy kind of bandanna mask.

I think that

maybe the reason to make it into a mask style is that there are more layers of fabric in front of your face? I would hope multiple layers would provide at least a little more protection than bandit style, but who knows.

The shop towel works great! I folded it corner to corner to make it longer. Two towels might make it work better. Great disposable option.
