Are you wearing a mask when you go out?

I assume those in the "at risk" categories are.

I haven't up until this point, due to none available/being told it's not necessary. But, now that I found an easy rubber band/fabric one I can easily make I think I will start.

(I only go to the grocery store).

This a.m. I went to the store at 7:30 a.m. I'd say well over 3/4 the people were wearing masks (our governor just asked all Coloradoans to start wearing masks). Gave me a good feeling about "coming together" as a community.

for a walk, but if I have to go to the grocery store, I will wear one. I made some for my son that we are mailing off tomorrow to him. I will be making some for us today.

Mask

I donít really go out much. But each time I did, I wore a mask and gloves. I use a cane right now to keep balanced so I put a glove on my cane, too. That way I wonít transfer anything from hand to cane.

When we get home, my jacket and shoes stay outside for a few days to air out.

I even use gloves to get my mail out of the mailbox.

Iím also in Colorado. I just ordered two from a little local boutique who is making them. I plan to wear one if I am going to the grocery store but if I am just out for a walk with my pup I donít plan to. I took my pup to the vet yesterday and they had clients put on a mask while they were there.

Wearing a mask

I was only using gloves before when I went grocery shopping. Adding the mask today.

And for the record, I am over all this house arrest business.

Iíve only been out once (other than around the neighborhood walks) in the last 3 weeks but if I have to go out to a public place Iíll wear a mask.

Weíve been quarantining the mail for a couple of days too.

I will wear one if I need to pick up groceries or go to the pharmacy. Those are the only reasons I go off our property.

Like letsgomets, I donít wear one when I walk outside.

I do want 1 for grocery shopping indoors. A very kind PTer is making & mailing me one. I had to go to the store today so I wore a ski headbandóit covered my nose and mouth quite nicely.

I don't wear a mask when I walk. I'm well-distanced in a not at all crowded place.

My sweet neighbor made me four masks from the CDC pattern. She's a good seamstress. I wore one yesterday when I picked up groceries. We are now required to get out of the car and open whatever door we want the groceries in. After they load, you get back out and close the door. Makes sense. Neither the employees nor the customers will be touching doors someone else has touched.

I plan to wear a mask whenever I have to be out anywhere close to the public.

Just to clarify, I don't wear one when I walk my dog around the neighborhood. It's very easy to keep my distance and we walk at the crack of dawn. But to go grocery shopping, I will definitely wear a mask and gloves.

Haven't been out since they made that recommendation, but will wear a mask starting with the very next time I go out.

I'm in the process of making them now. So glad I can sew and have all the needed materials already.

As of now I've made:
a flowered one-adult
a llama one-child
a dinosaur one-child
almost completed a plain gray (manly) one-adult

I wear one when I am passing out lunches at school.

I don't wear one when I am outside at home , or going for a walk.

I am fortunate that I don't have to go into stores at all - I just message DH and tell him what we need since he is still working.

Recently highly recommended them. I just ordered 2 off of Etsy last night for BF and myself. Should be here in a couple of days. I also don't plan on wearing one outdoors, but will at stores.

One of my neighbors made some for everyone in our neighborhood!!! She used the cutest fabrics so that each of our family can tell them apart. She delivered them to our mailboxes with a little note to encourage us to stay healthy. Such a kind gesture and I am wearing mine when I have to go to the store

We are "strongly urged" to wear one whenever we leave the house. If people don't comply willingly I think it may become required.

I just bought some washable masks from a neighbor. She sewed two layer ones with cotton and jersey material. I found her little craft shop on the Next Door app. DH and I have been wearing procedural masks. We had a box of them left over from the fire problems in this area awhile back. When the box is empty we will switch to the washable masks.

I think masks are all washable
Old 04-05-2020, 11:46 AM

They are recommending that the masks be made from 100% cotton close woven fabric. I have a lot of fabric left over from different crafts. I don't know which are 100% cotton and which are not. Luckily one large piece was labeled on the selvage as 100% cotton and another had the designers name that I looked up on the internet and found all her fabric was 100% cotton.

Cotton is washable. Masks should be washed in between wearing, or so I read.

No, I don't wear one. I just make sure to clean surfaces and wash my hands afterwards like I would during any cold/flu season.

So far I have only gone out to run, walk the dog, and paddle board and have not come within a hundred feet of anyone else while doing that, so no masks. If I do need to go to a store I will wear a mask, but my DH still has to work, so we are having him do all the shopping since he has to be out anyway and he does wear a mask.

What we are being told is that we should wear fabric face masks, not to protect ourselves, because fabric won't stop COVID-19, but to help protect others so that if we cough or sneeze, we won't spray droplets out into the air which might spread the virus if we are infected and don't have symptoms.

I didn't wear one the last time I went out but I will now. Spring allergy season will start pretty soon in these parts. I don't know that I'll wear one when I'm walking, but I'll probably keep one with me.

MIL just mailed everyone in our family a homemade mask. I haven't gone anywhere and don't plan on it so I haven't worn it yet. DH has done all the grocery shopping. She also mailed everyone a bar of antibacterial soap. She said it lasts longer than pump soap. We haven't had to use that yet either.

I didn't think it was much of a choice with the governor's announcement. I don't have anything in my house I could use as a mask. Even with the DIY ones with an old t shirt or whatever, I don't have any rubber bands.

I considered wearing a scarf next time I go to the store and then hope to pick some up, but is there going to be a run on rubber bands now?? I also typically buy my groceries from Trader Joe's and I'm sure they don't have any office supplies like that. IDK if it's riskier to go into an additional store just for rubber bands especially not knowing if they have any.

I'm kind of hoping I'll see someone on next door or our word of mouth town FB page selling them with porch pick up. I'd rather have a premade thing I could just put on easily.

My teammate was trying to tell me we have to wear them to walk outside now too. IMO that's ridiculous. Maybe on a busy trail, but I could easily walk in my neighborhood and not see a soul. If someone was coming, it would be very easy to move away and make sure to stay 6 feet from anyone, or change direction. This is all hypothetical . I keep saying I need to start walking outside and I don't do it. But seriously, I need to. This staying indoors for weeks on end thing can't be healthy. Especially now that I live in a "real neighborhood" that is good for walking (as opposed to my apartment which was off a busy street/no sidewalks).

I have stretchy cloth headbands that I use if I go to the grocery store or go to pick up food. To ride my bike and go for walks I do not.

The only place I've been lately is out for walks and school, so I haven't worn masks at all. I probably should wear one when I go to the grocery store this week, but I don't have one. So I guess I won't! I can't stand having anything on my neck/head, so it will be hard for me to keep one on without feeling claustrophobic.

I donít wear one when I walk because I donít get close to anyone. Yesterday was the first time I visited the grocery store since the suggestion to wear one came about. I wrapped my scarf around my face. My husband and I are looking into tying shoelaces to hand towels to use.

You can make a very effective mask from a tshirt and no sewing is required
