I need to remember...

Clip to ScrapBook #1

When I get frustrated because a parent is enabling their child, allowing low expectations, letting their child run the show, I must remember that I only have 2 more months "with them" and the parents are going to be stuck with the kid their whole lives.

I know this is a stressful time, and I can understand difficulty parents are having in this time...I'm not referring to isolated incidences during this time, I'm talking about parents who do this constantly, all year. They aren't doing their kid any favors. But, then again, not my circus, not my monkeys. I'm stuck with them for the rest of the year, parents are stuck with them for the rest of their lives.

I tell myself that often, especially when the parents are excusing poor behavior.

And their child will be unable to go to college, trade school, or hold down a job.

I've told myself the same thing. I worry most that children in this setting will have a huge difficulty maintaining healthy relationships as adults: at work, romantically, in their family.
