Do you wear a watch?

My husband always says, ďYour not really retired until you stop wearing a watch.Ē

In my classroom I had a huge clock and always know the time. Now Iím either looking for my phone, or at the clock on the microwave or stove. I had a Fitbit but it was hard to see. Iím going watch shopping today, I like knowing what time it is.

Do you wear a watch?

Yep! Every day, even when I am staying home. I’ve worn a watch for as long as I can remember. I may be retired but I still like to be able to glance at the time and date on my watch.

I have 3 watches I wore every day when I taught. 2 are just Seikos, but 1 is a lovely Movado DH gave me. I realized recently I haven’t worn them since I moved 1.5 years ago. I hate seeing them languishing in a drawer. Fortunately, DD wants them. Yay! So long story to say: no, I never wear a watch now.

Nope - I wore a watch everyday during my many years of working. I took it off on my last day of work and never - not once - put it back on again. I dont miss it but I just do t need it because I can look at the time on my car, phone, TV, appliances, etc. Its just unnecessary for me to do so.

I wear mine every day. Retired but just a regular old watch. My DH gave it to me as a gift and I love it.

Yes. I also wear an Apple Watch. Before I got that I wore either a FitBit or a regular old Timex. It drives me crazy to not know what time it is.

I wear a watch everyday and have since I was a teenager. I received an Apple watch for my 70th birthday in September and love it.

I wear my Seiko every day. i feel naked without it! I've tried a Fitbit, but don't really care how many steps I take in a day...I know if I am active or a slug. I've considered an Apple watch, but don't know if I need all the functions that are part of it, so am sticking with the Seiko for now.

In 27 years of teaching I have never worn a watch. I am a couple years away from retiring. I wonder if I’ll buy one.

The short answer: no.

The story: several years ago I attended a faith weekend retreat. One thing they asked of us was to not wear a watch. I haven't put one on again after that. I was curious to see how long I would last. It's probably been 15+ years, so I don't think I'll relapse now.

I do like knowing the time, though, so it makes me buggy to be at my DD's house where she has few clocks.

Good question

I always have my cell phone to check the time if I needed, but I like a watch for fashion as well as function. My biggest problem is replacing the batteries on inexpensive watches. When my Mom was alive, there was a flea market in her town that did them really cheaply. Now, I don't have that option and with inexpensive watches, it seems cheaper to replace the watch than the battery.

I am usually at home so there's always a clock nearby and I really don't care what time it is most days. I only try to get something out for supper in the morning when I am having my breakfast. Otherwise, who cares till my husband gets home from work. Of course, he's soon retiring so that may change.

Right after I retired, I stopped wearing a watch for a few years. Now I wear a fitbit, but at least I don't have to check it every few minutes to make sure I'm staying on schedule!

I wear my Apple watch every day. It's essential due to the many functions on the watch.

Always have my faithful old wind-up Timex on my wrist!
I figure that what makes me "retired" is that not once since I retired in June of this year has my alarm been set (grin!)

I have 5 of them, one brand new that has been worn once. I stopped wearing watches a few years before I retired. If I REALLY need to know the time, I check my phone, or ask someone.

When I was still teaching, I wore my watch.
Now that I'm retired, I wear my Fitbit which functions as a watch. I like to know the time, because I have a busy life. When I travel, I wear my big old Timex watch ("It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!") that I bought for $24.99 over 25 years ago.

No. I took the one I wore when I was teaching off on the last day of school and put it away. I'm not even sure I could find it now. I always have my phone with me, if I ever need to know what time it is.

Why wear a watch when you have a cell phone? That was my feeling. But my DH gave me the Apple Watch 2 years ago and itís much more handy. None of my friends have watches so if we need the time, they scramble for their phones. I look at my wrist and chirp ď1:45Ē or whatever time. Canít live without it now. It tells me when I have a call or text, and I can even talk on it. It monitors my heart and my exercise and tells me when to take my pills. I love my watch!
