Which changes will you keep?

In the past few weeks weve been jolted into a different lifestyle where weve had to make so many unforeseen adaptations while trying to keep ourselves and others healthy.

As we consider a revised lifestyle where we will not have to remain self-isolated, what are the positive changes you would want to keep as we move forward?

For school, Ive been having students check in daily by writing a journal entry, usually, but not always, in response to some weekly (not daily) prompt. So they have to write every day about the same prompt. As the week goes on, they've had to dig deeper into each topic. I have loved reading what my students have to say.

A positive attitude towards negative stuff...I can do that!
We have always walked, but will certainly continue
Reading is another regular habit which will continue
We try and meditate each day
Doing home yoga...we have a dvd
Not paying attention to negative, crabby people!
Not giving my DH any more haircuts
Loving where I live so much
I just love my neighbors too!!

Gratitude. I realize I have so much to be grateful for and I need to take that with me. I am grateful for:
*where I live. I love my home and community.
*my children. They check on me frequently and show their love & appreciation.
*my friends. Now I know they like the real me.
*my neighbors. What caring and considerate people surround me.
*my PT friends. I have learned how kind and sincere so many of you are.

Trust. I have learned to trust more (and to let go of the few I dont value).

Pace. Retirement has helped me slow down and smell the roses, and coronavirus has taught me to take the time to think about that scent, to live with it for a moment.

Id like to continue to use my library for ebooks instead of purchasing them when I get impatient.

I want to continue to check on old friends. Ive tried to contact a few old friends each week to check in and its enriched my life.

Id like to continue to be less wasteful. Ive been freezing half of my recipes, chopping up vegetables to freeze , and also desserts. Im also more mindful of using paper towels.

I will not shake hands - never liked to - now I feel justified

I will keep my house clean

I will keep my earthquake supplies fully stocked.

I will walk daily

Our family

is spread among several states and countries. We have zoomed together a couple of times and last night had a zoom cocktail hour- that lasted for two hours. We try to get together every other year, but this was so much fun. It is the four sibs, our spouses and our adult children. Some of the younger kids jump in. This is definitely something I would like to continue.

Lots of food things:
*Using what we have-checking the pantry and freezer!
*preparing meals creatively
*keeping the essentials stocked
*using leftovers

*Taking time to notice and enjoy the little things!
