How many of your state's neighbors have you been to?

Kentucky is the state with the THIRD most neighbors. Two of its neighbors tie for first place, though.

I have been to:
Missouri, Indiana, and Tennessee.

I have NOT been to:
Ohio, Virginia, or West Virginia.

I have been through and in an airport in:
Illinois

Even though Kentucky and Missouri border, mainland Kentucky and Missouri do not border by road. There are some exclaves of Kentucky on the Missouri side that have roads into them that are only accessible through Missouri. There's also an exclave of Kentucky only accessible from Tennessee.

Long story short, even though Kentucky and Missouri border, you have to go through Illinois (or Tennessee and Arkansas) to get there by car.

I can't think of any states in the West I haven't been to (except for Alaska), so I have been to all my neighbors

New Hampshire is a small state, with only three states (and Quebec) bordering it. I live on the Vermont border and go there probably once or twice a week. I go to Maine at least once a year to visit a friend, and to Massachusetts occasionally, mostly to go to the airport (but last year I spend a few days sight seeing in Concord MA, and I would like to visit Boston for a week sometime to see the sights there). I went to Montreal, in Quebec, with my Girl Scout troop several years ago. It's a beautiful city, and I would love to go there again, and also to visit Quebec City.

Fun question! California only has 3 surrounding states and I’ve been briefly to all 3 (Oregon, Nevada, Arizona), but we also share a border with Mexico and I’ve been there a lot. Also, the west coast of California is all the grand Pacific Ocean where I’ve spent the most time of all.

I live in California and have been to all three: Nevada, Oregon, and Arizona. Have also been to Mexico, our southern border. And, while in Arizona, I went to The 4 corners, which put me in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.

And to hijack your thread (mea culpa) I’ve also been to Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii on the West Coast.

Iowa has 8 states that border it. I have been to Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, and Nebraska. I have not been to South Dakota or Wisconsin though. I live about 45 minutes from Missouri and an hour from Illinois.

Wisconsin borders 4 states: Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan. I've been to all of them. We don't have a land border with Canada but we share a maritime boundary in Lake Superior, and I've been to Canada as well.

I still haven't been to Tennessee. Maybe Memphis in a summer or two.

New York borders New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Canada. I have been to all of them.

Fun fact -I live where I can go to four states (NY, CT, MA, and VT) all within the same afternoon, and have done that a few times.

When I lived in IN, I visited all bordering states (IL, KY, OH, and MI).

Indiana boarders Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois. I’ve been to all.

When I was growing up my family went to the country dirt road where Indiana, Ohio and Michigan meet. My dad grew up close to that spot.

I'm in Maine, and we have only 1 state that borders us, and I've been there. We are also bordered by the provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec, and I've been to both.

Actually, we go to Canada frequently in the summer, and I'm really missing it this year. They're really nice people, and I miss hanging out with them.

I live in Indiana and have been to Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois, but not Michigan. I used to live in North Dakota and visited all of its state neighbors—South Dakota, Montana, and Minnesota. I also visited both Canadian neighbors—Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

I’m in Kentucky.

I’ve been to all of them, I believe . . .
  • Tennessee
  • Missouri
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Ohio
  • West Virginia
  • Virginia

I’m pretty good on border states and the south. I need to head west and northeast.

Almost none in my current state! With my home state I've been to all of the surrounding ones plus the entire East coast/including the South. We never really traveled out West, which is where I live now. Basically I drove in a straight line to get out here, and since moving here the only "Western" trip I've taken is Vegas.

I’ve been to all of our shared border states: Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio. Also to Ontario, Canada. And then also to all of the states that we share 4 out of 5 Great Lakes with: Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New York.

NJ borders Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware. I go to NY a lot, but mainly the city, the boroughs, and Long Island, not upstate NY. I've been to Pennsylvania many times. I love Pennsylvania and DH and I are going there the end of this month for a week. We are going mainly to look at buying retirement property there. It's a pension friendly state and only a little more than an hour and a half drive from our NJ home. I have driven through Delaware but never actually visited. I hear it has a great beach town though.

I’ve been to every state bordering mine. My count includes every state on the East Coast, the West Coast, the South, the Southwest, and several of the Midwestern states. Plus Alaska.

I still need a few Midwestern states and several of the Western states, plus Hawaii, to make all 50. Probably about 10 states total to go.

I have also been to Mexico and Canada. I actually lived in Canada for 5 years— 4 in Ontario and 1 in Québec.

all 50 states. I had been missing Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Montana, and North Dakota, so we did a cruise a couple of years ago to Alaska. Drove to Washington state from Virginia, and made sure to go the northern route on the way home to get all fifty states in. It was on my bucket list.

My state has no real neighbors. According to google “ The closest point between any Hawaiian territory and any non-Hawaiian territory is between Midway Island (which is not politically part of the state of Hawaii)”

I have not been to midway. I also have not been to Moloka’i, Lana’i, or Ni’ihau within the state.
