I have a kindergartner. Our home district announced that they are using Calvert for the 100% virtual option.

I just spent a few hours looking through it but wanted to see if anyone here had personal experience with the program.

This is a very dated, and incomplete response. But, back many years ago I taught at a very highly regarded private school in Baltimore. Calvert was another excellent independent school for elementary students. Whenever we had a student entering from Calvert, that student was well-prepared, in skills, in study habits, in ability to think. Their high reputation was well-deserved.

The homeschool curriculum is or at least was another branch of the same school. I think much of the curriculum they developed was piloted in their own classrooms. Many ex pats, missionary families, etc. used Calvert materials.

I have never used them, but probably well-worth considering.

Thanks so much TAOEP for sharing that insight.

I have been assured that I can supplement or create an individualized learning plan instead of strictly following Calvert so I guess if I'm not satisfied I'm not completely locked in.

I like that there are lots of hands-on projects. There are many things not aligned to K standards. One of the social studies lessons has them creating a resume.

Actually, wouldn't it be fun to write a resume for a kindergartener? Lots of room for creativity there!

I'm glad you found my dated and incomplete comments helpful. I hope you end up having a good year with your kindergartener.
