I don't have a Facebook. However, I'm hearing that there are a lot of groups out there that are helpful. If I were to create an account, how would I join a group? Can I join and never post, just read/see resources? I'm planning on using it more for professional, teaching groups. Can I join with nothing on my page?

I don’t know that this will work for you, but if a group is public then anyone can see the posts, even if they don’t have a Facebook account. I have local Facebook groups that I follow in this manner. I can see the posts but I can’t read any comments.

Some groups are easier to join than others. There are usually questions to answer. Sometimes you have to have something on your page that indicates interest in the topic.

Give it a go and see what happens.

Yes you can join groups without posting or having friends. I don’t have any friends and belong to about 5 groups. I opened the account to sell things on the market place.

If you aren't going to use your account for anything personal or post on the groups (much- you might find reasons to do so) try making a facebook account using a moniker like Teacherbee... Then you are still annonomous.

I did use a fake name; I like to be more anonymous. Thanks. I tried to join some groups. We'll see if I get accepted.

I manage a couple of FB groups and we have questions we ask. We also look for anyone who looks spammy—which usually means no personal photos, no real posts, etc. so if you find you aren’t getting accepted, maybe try adding some kind of photos that aren’t just landscapes, etc. like a picture of your pet maybe. And make some kind of posts from time to time, they don’t have to be too personal.

I have a second FB account with no friends but it includes a few photos, like KatieViolet mentioned. I have joined private groups and also news type groups. The private groups just want to make sure you will adhere to their rules and are not a troll or spammer. Whether you comment or not is up to you. No one else knows you are a member unless he/she are also in that group (and using their real name).

I've only used FB for groups for the past 5ish years or so. Most of them I just look at the content and don't really participate. Although I never post on my feed anymore, I did originally use FB so I have a friends list. If you don't have anyone on your friends list, I could see you having trouble joining some groups because they may think you're a bot. For some you just press "join" and for others you have to be approved by the admin of the group.

I have never been rejected from any group I wanted except one. They required that you lived in the town, and I only taught there.
