1st IEP meetings this week..

I have my first 2 IEP meetings this week. Any advice?

Try not to bang your head on the table from boredom.....

Take samples of the child's work in, notes, report cards (anything else in you'd like to discuss ) with you.

Take all of your documentation. You need to be able to back up any goals you are going to right and any services you want to provide.

Believe me, it helps with keeping everyone on task. Also, after awhile you can use the agenda to help determine the length of the meetings. Also, make sure you confirm with attendees prior to the meeting, and designate someone to take notes. Good luck!

I always prepare a rough sketch of my goals before the meeting. Then when I am at the meeting and present them to the committee we can either tweek it or go with what I think is appropriate. Remember that no decision is made outside of the committee meeting. Good luck!
