How scary is "Unbelievable?"

This looks interesting, but I don't like scary movies (I know it's not a movie). Is it more like SVU, which I'm fine with, or scarier? The trailer is sucking me in but I don't want to watch something that's going to keep me up at night. Thanks!

P.S. If you can't tell, I'm procrastinating . I'm supposed to be doing work for the class I'm taking and cleaning. More content in the lounge for the rest of you!

It did remind me of SVU a bit. Not scary at all. I watched it all in 2 nights. Very good. And based on a true case.

I agree with keltikmom, not scary at all. Definitely like L&O. Upsetting at times, but not scary. I loved the series.

Some shows make me anxious

This one did not. Well not as much as it could have had it been filmed differently.

The rapes are not shown in real time as they happen. They are shown in short segments as flashbacks by the victims. For me this helped as I knew they survived. If the rape had been show as it was happening I would have been very anxious that they were going to be killed.

The story is not about the rapist really. JMO The story is about the victims and how the police help them. This helped me as well because I could identify with the women and have empathy for what they went through.

For me the story also compares how male police vs. female police handle rape cases. Interesting.

I really enjoyed the series. I also enjoyed the fact that the female detectives who helped solve this case really looked like working police detectives. Their suits are not super tight and revealing. They did not show cleavage in work clothes like female police on TV often do. As I remember they also wore working shoes. Not attractive, but practical.

There also is not a great deal of nudity shown. I remember seeing a bare trunk to just below the belly button, during a flashback. I also say a female in a bra. But I do not remember any private parts shown. I appreciated hearing about the rapes as the victims talked to detectives rather than seeing the rape happen.

I liked the series so much I watched all eight episodes in one day. Major binge watch!

Correct me if I'm wrong but there was a nude scene when they stripped the male suspect down in jail. They showed full frontal.

I found the show very interesting. I couldn't stop watching it to see how it all played out. I also enjoyed the fact that it was based on a true story. I didn't find it scary.

I agree with MyLifeClass. Once again, I feel like I watched a different series than 1956.

I loved the statement this series made about women. And honesty. Of course, if I may repeat myself, my #1 favorite author was a creator/writer/producer for the show, so Iím favorably biased.

I was thinking about women only. So sorry! But they did not show full frontal with private parts did they?

Check out this podcast from This American Life. I'm pretty sure this series Unbelievable is taken from this podcast.https://www.thisamericanlife.org/581/anatomy-of-doubt

Naked man in episode 7. Rewatched it. I hope he does not scare Haley 23. Sorry Haley.

I finished the series last night. Not scary but unnerving at times. I did not like the first couple of episodes but grew to appreciate the story and the 2 female detectives-excellent portrayals and so smart.
I wonder if there will be a sequel or at least more cases these two would solve...

I finished the series last night; very interesting. Naked people wasn't really what I was asking about .

While it wasn't scary like a scary movie, I did find it unnerving that this happened in my area! I didn't know that prior to watching. That and the fact that he targeted women who live alone did make me a little nervous going to sleep. I started worrying about copycats due to all of the publicity.

I did enjoy the portrayal of the female detectives and the work that they did to solve the case. I also found it refreshing that they didn't really focus on the rapist at all for the series but instead focused on the detectives and the victims.

The series made interesting conversation at my house with my adult children . I at first thought it illustrated the difference between male and female detectives but quickly realized that any detective can be dismissive of the claims of a victim. My son and daughter also had the reminder from me about why you should never sit down alone and chat with law enforcement unless you have a lawyer.

I watch a lot of Law & Order reruns (all three shows) and it reminded me a lot of SVU. I really enjoyed it and binge watched the whole thing in one day. (I NEVER do that!)
